The Resorts company has commenced a ground breaking agreement that sees us not only providing course maintenance and up-grading for the Forbes golf course but also taking up management of golf operations as well.
The key element of this arrangement is that we don’t get paid directly by the club rather our fee becomes a percentage of golf operations turn-over with set percentage going back to the club each month.
This is great for the club as they are guaranteed a regular income, a well maintained course as well as competitive membership subscription rates, low green fees and other benefits coming from cross promotion with other Resorts courses around the country.
Called Resorts Club Care, this new service has been specifically designed to solve the commonly experienced problem of falling revenue and membership, a course that needs up grading and better machinery, and because of this is losing market share and perhaps ultimately in an unsustainable situation.
This arrangement does not encompass the club house operation which remains under the control of the club and the traditional membership and competition structure stays the same with members retaining complete autonomy and control over competitions and other business.
Managing Director of Resorts, Wayne Sewell says this was a very proactive outcome for a number of reasons not the least being that with the market getting tougher, bringing in specialist assistance to protect the asset and bottom line financial performance makes a lot of sense
“This arrangement will not only provide a really well maintained golf course but with us deriving our fee only from what the course makes it’s also about the golf club spreading risk which is always a good thing in business.” says Wayne.
Final comment from the Forbes Mayor, Phyllis Miller “This is definitely a win win situation for the town and the golf club.” says Major Miller
“Its essential that Forbes have a good quality and viable golf club and so I’m very pleased about the arrangement with Resort as this will be achieved in a sustainable and practical manner that fits exceptionally well with all stake holders.”
“A strong community is one that works together for the betterment of the town and this agreement will see a coming together of various sections of the Forbes community in a way that will benefit not just golfers but the whole town.” says the Mayor.
